About Me.

As an Austin native and daughter of a sports journalist, I have always had an idea of what I wanted to do as a career. A Texas Longhorn fan from day one, I fell in love with two things, sports and the school. Growing up, I learned just how good of a school Texas is, for everything, but especially for journalism. I knew that no matter what I wanted to study, I could do it well at Texas. As my career aspirations grew and became clearer, so did my desire to attend the University of Texas. Now, with just one semester left, the school has guided me toward life-changing opportunities and given me a strong sense of belonging in a career path that first-year me would never think she belonged in. Since I was born, I have known nothing other than to love sports, as this photo is my dad holding my twin sister and me when Texas Men's Basketball played in the Final Four in 2003. We were just weeks old. Since then, my love for sports has only grown and now, I want to follow in my dad's footsteps - and go above and beyond - with my own career in sports journalism.  Take a look at some of my work here:

Double Coverage Editor

  • Focused coursework in investigative reporting, multimedia journalism, media ethics, and digital content creation.

  • Developed strong writing, editing, and research skills through theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience.

  • Gained proficiency in storytelling across multiple platforms, including print and online media.

  • Engaged in internships and campus publications, contributing to real-world projects and building professional connections within the media industry.

  • Led the production of a weekly football special issue, overseeing the editorial process from story assignment to publication. Assigned, edited, and reviewed up to ten stories per week, ensuring high-quality, accurate coverage of football events. Collaborated with the editorial team to design and produce a twelve-page print publication, coordinating content, layout, and deadlines.

  • Wrote a weekly column focused on Texas football called "Plotkin's Playbook" providing insightful commentary and analysis. Attended weekly press conferences and other media events to gather firsthand information and enhance content with real-world insights. Appeared on the Paul Finebaum Show, a daily college football aired on the SEC Network talk show to talk about my experience as a student journalist.

Spring 2024

Associate Sports Editor - Baseball Beat Writer

  • Edit and review stories from general and senior reporters, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to editorial standards. Lead pitch meetings, collaborating with team members to generate new story ideas.

  • Assist in recruiting and interviewing new writers, contributing to the growth and strengthening of the writing team. 

  • Provide comprehensive coverage of Texas Baseball, including attending media availabilities, games, and conducting interviews. Write in-depth feature stories and detailed game recaps, capturing key moments and insights for a diverse audience.

Fall 2023

Sports Desk Editor - Football Beat Writer

  • Edit and refine stories submitted by general and senior reporters, ensuring high editorial standards and accuracy. Lead pitch meetings, guiding the team in generating story ideas and determining editorial priorities.

  • Provide comprehensive coverage of Texas Football, attending all press conferences and games by writing weekly game stories and press conference reports, and delivering timely and engaging content for the publication.

Spring 2022 - Spring 2023

General and Senior Sports Reporter

  • Cover a dedicated sports beat, reporting on all scores, results, and key developments for teams, including Men’s and Women’s Golf, Women’s Tennis, and Women’s Basketball.

  • Attend and provide in-depth coverage of all home games, as well as select away games, writing detailed game stories and post-game analysis.

  • Research and write in-depth feature stories on top high school football recruits in Texas, highlighting their athletic achievements, recruitment process, and future potential. Conduct interviews, analyze performance data, and provide well-rounded coverage of emerging talent in Texas high school football.

Staff Writer

  • Wrote on-court introductions for tennis players at ITF 15K, 25K, and 50K tournaments and the WTA 250 ATX open. 

  • Produced content for the tournament website and social media accounts, writing match recaps and previews, doing on-court post-match interviews and coming up with creative content for social media. Wrote feature stories about players during each tournament. 

  • Edited other staff members' writing and helped edit social media videos.

URJ Greene Family Camp

Counselor and Unit Head

  • Supervised and guided a team of counselors and campers, ensuring a safe and positive environment for all. Managed daily activities, monitored camper behavior, and addressed any conflicts or issues with staff and campers in a timely and effective manner. Facilitated conflict resolution by mediating disputes and implementing solutions to maintain a harmonious camp environment. 

  • Worked with other unit heads to plan camp-wide activities and ensure a great summer for all campers and staff.
